Love, Grace, & Mercy Do Not Replace Law

There is a lot of fodder out there regarding whether we're bound by the laws in the bible or whether we are not truly limited to much but are cushioned and surrounded by love, grace and mercy like 1 Corinthians 13:1-8 and 1 Peter 4:8 leads many to believe. A lot of people tend to be on one side or the other but me... I feel both are inaccurate or should I say incomplete.

Back then the Pharisees and all of them were sticklers for rules and regulations that they themselves were not held to just like these days (anyone in power). I think that what Jesus was trying to say here in Matthew 5:17-20 is that the Law is not the be all and end all but it is still intact and very much important. But Paul in Galatians 2:11 through 3:25 would have you believe that the law was only in place until Christ came and to lead us to Christ, but Christ himself said that he did not seek to abolish the law. Even Psalm 1 touts the benefits of the law, but we all know David was known for his heart towards God NOT his ability to follow laws. Now in Romans 7 and on Paul continues his tirade against law, and on one hand I don't blame him because he used to be under the law without any faith, grace, or hope, and so for him I think he needed to break from the law because of HIS BACKGROUND, but it's not for everyone.

I believe when you consider all the points and you also take into account that we are CHRISTIANS meaning we follow Christ not his disciples or those after him, we'll see that balance is being touted. It is not strictly LAW and it is not strictly FAITH, HOPE, & LOVE, and like I've said before, if I'm going to base my life on something it will be law; rules; commandments etc. BEFORE (not instead of) it will be grace, mercy, and everything else.
