You owe me

Too often it's easy to think God owes me things. I've done what's right. God owes me. I've given my time. God owes me. I obeyed Him. God owes me. What's incredible about Job is that in spite of the fact he had every reason to feel entitled (he was blameless and upright; he was also the wealthiest man in the world) Job never crossed the line of believing he deserved God's blessings. That's why in spite of losing all he had in one day, he could worship in the midst of his grief. And he proved God was worthy of worship for who He is not just what He'd given Job.

That's a depth and devotion to God that I want to consistently demonstrate. Every day I want my actions and attitudes to reflect that God is worthy of my devotion regardless of what He does or does not give me, what good or bad may come. When I worship in the midst of pain, that's when I know my love for God is pure and I clearly recognize who He is not just what He does.
