@Norton65 response to your question
I have found that when I read scripture I learn 3 things through God's grace. First, scripture teaches me about the qualities of God. So I ask the questions, "what does this scripture tell me about God?" Second, scripture tells me about myself, so I ask the question, "what does this scripture tell me about me (human beings)?" Lastly, scripture tells me about the relationship between me and God, so I ask the questions, "What does this scripture teach me about the relationship between God and myself (human beings)?" I have found that keeping it simple and asking these questions allow scripture to shape who I am. Its also like anything else, it is overwhelming in the beginning. I'm beginning my 9th time of reading through the whole bible in a year and I feel like I'm just starting to grab a hold of the "whole" story. Remember its about a journey and not a destination. God wants his chidlren to spend time with him the same way we want to spend time with our own kids. Scripture is one of those places He spends time with us. Spending time is the most important thing and over time understanding will come.....thanks for your post.
