There is nothing more critical that can happen in our lives than meeting and having a personal relationship with Jesus.
Is in those wilderness experiences when we can hear God the loudest. When everything is going well we tend to think that we got everything under control and start depending on our own resources. Is during those times when God takes us by the hand and leads us to the wilderness. Where was Moses when God showed up in the burning bush? He was in the wilderness. Same thing happened to Jacob, he was out in the wilderness when he wrestled with God. If you feel like you are in the wilderness right now, just hang in there, we have all been at one time or another in the wilderness. The worst thing we can do is disconnect from God when we are in the wilderness.
When you are seeking a great God, He makes you great, and is nothing you do, but what He does through you. We must decrease and He must increase in our lives for greatness to take place. We must have a divine necessity, we must not stand in the way of God. Many times we fail at this, the Lord starts to do a work through us and our heads get "big" and we start thinking that "we" did it when in reality it is Him. We need to depend upon God. We need to be people that are constantly pointing others to Jesus. The measure of success is not how big the ministry is, but how many people are following Jesus through the ministry.
We need to follow John's lead and point people to Jesus. (Mark 1:7).
John's purpose was to prepare the way for the Lord, he was a forerunner. We as Christians are to be the same we are to prepare the way so that those around us that do not know the Lord will be able to meet Him. The question is are we fulfilling our purpose?
People need to hear the truth, but we need to tell them the truth in a loving way. We all have a need and a desire for God. He is the only one that gives us the acceptance that we need. But if we tell people about this in any way other than a loving way, we will turn people off.
Standing for what the Bible says will make us in some people's minds as intolerant. We, however, must stand up for what is right. We must be like Daniel who purposed in his heart not to compromise himself, he stood up for what was right and as a result, God blessed him beyond his wildest expectations.
We must ask the Lord to narrow our focus and plant us in the middle of His will. We must be who God has called us to be. We are to live to please an audience of One.
