No More Wrong Turns
11 I’m writing out clear directions to Wisdom Way,
I’m drawing a map to Righteous Road.
12 I don’t want you ending up in blind alleys,
or wasting time making wrong turns.
- The Message
I think these verses frame chapter 4. In short, there are good choices and bad choices. There are right paths and wrong paths. It's not, "whatever way seems right to you." There are clearly some wrong turns we need to avoid.
But how can we avoid bad decisions?
Guard your heart by carefully monitoring
what you see
what you say
what you do
Verse 24 really hit me though..."Don’t talk out of both sides of your mouth; avoid careless banter, white lies, and gossip." For me it starts with my family and how I speak to Shalla, my children and my extended family. In addition to how I speak TO them I need to be mindful of how I speak ABOUT them to others. And a very close second to my family are my friends and the people I work with.
Question: What area of your heart [what you see, say or do] do you need to carefully monitor?
