The Lord Spoke
Have you ever heard the Lord speak? When Scrooge heard his friend Marley speak he thought it might be a bit of undigested potato. It's hard to know when the Lord speaks to us and when it is our own emotions, ambitions, pride, or fear telling us what we want to hear.
Abram knew the voice of the Lord and could discern His voice over his own inner monologue. Perhaps Abram spent more time in prayer and experiencing God's presence daily that when God asked something of Abram he knew for sure it was not his own voice he was hearing.
I wonder how many times God has invited me to change directions in order to bless my life abundantly, but I just didn't hear over the noise of other voices. The loudest of all is my own!
