Isn't it interesting that at the first sign of sin Gods does not demand an answer or go straight into punishment? He asks mankind questions. He wants the confession. He does not want them to be "caught" but to come clean. It is through confession that our sins are cleansed.
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9
