Meditation
A couple of months ago I was a part of a Bible Study in which me and a group of college students were training to become a part of the college ministry to disciple our friends at the school. This piece of scripture we were told to memorize.
Fitting right?
When I was memorizing this scripture I noticed it took (especially for my simple mind) an intense amount of focus in order to memorize this scripture, consistent prayer for God to engrave this scripture onto my heart.
This process, of memorizing felt to me much like meditation. Mulling over the scripture again and again, seeking God in and out of every word, and discovering the meaning in which He had for me through His Word.
In Joshua 1:8 God tells Joshua to meditate DAY and NIGHT! Thats a lot of meditation, intense heart driven focus, and listening.
I have to ask myself am I meditating day and night? What's the point?
The answer to the first would be no. The answer to the second lies in part B of the scripture.
"so that you may be careful to do all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and that you will have success."
That is beast!
The "what's the point" becomes huge now, because doing so means I inherit prosperity and success. But more importantly, besides the success and prosperity, I know it gives my Creator great joy to know that I am doing "all that is written in it." So this is why I will put my effort into meditating day and night, no matter how hard, no matter the consequence, no matter the sacrifice, no matter what my friends will think, no matter how busy I am, no matter... I will do it.
Can we do this together?
What of the implications if we do?
