Lies Hidden
Oh the lies the devil tells us. But they aren't just lies... they are hidden lies. Lies amidst truth. I can hear him now...
"Oh, come on now... you won't "diiiie" that's just childish thinking! God is just afraid of you knowing as much as him."
He knew exactly what to go after -- pride. Moreover, he knew EXACTLY how to do it -- make us think. Think that we are on the same level as God. I always remember the line from Lord of the RIngs, "And 9 rings went to men... who above all else, desire power." How true -- and who would know it better than lucifer himself? Once the most glorious angel in Heaven... who fell to thoughts of being equal with God.
Reminds me a lot of the intellectuals of this day. They believe their own intelligence is so great, that they themselves can discredit God. It's for the weak, the unintelligent, the imprudent, the list goes on and on. A false hope for those who need something to cling on to for sustenance. How ironic David say in Psalm 53, " The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." " Moreover, I believe Paul nailed it in 1 Corinthians 1, ""I will destroy the wisdom of the wise;
the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate." quoting Isaiah 29.
He goes on later to say, "Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, 24but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God."
The "knowledge of good and evil" has killed us. It has killed our simple faith. It has killed true wisdom by clouding it with hidden lies.
Beware of the hidden lies of life. They are everywhere. Be wary of false wisdom, and be especially wary of the masks of "happiness." You know the lies off the top of your head -- the "truth" of where happiness comes from. The lies hidden beneath, this happiness is only temporary. This happiness is NOT satisfying. This happiness eats away until it becomes pain. There is only one who IS joy. And as Daniel said, Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are HIS." Is there any other source we should turn to? No. Not even the tastiest "apple."
