The Example Life
Lazarus was a polarizing figure. People flocked to Jesus on account of Lazarus. Still others rallied against him for the same reasons. And what did Lazarus do to cause all of this?
Absolutely nothing...
It was not anything Lazarus had done, but in fact it was the fact that he was living the life that Jesus had given him. Lazarus had a profound impact on people simply because he existed. His life was a testimony to the power and authority of Jesus, the Christ.
And I think in our lives too that is something to be aware of. If we proclaim to be followers of Christ, then more so than our words, our lives should be testifying to the power and authority of the almighty God. Sure, most of us haven't been raised from the dead after 3 days, but there should be a change in us. In the Bible an encounter with Christ never ends in people just being ambivalent. People either love or hate Jesus. He was impossible to not have an opinion on because his actions and ideas radically pushed the boundaries of the people.
Lord, help me to live the life you have given me. Let my actions testify to your power and authority in my life. Work through me that every person I encounter today might come into contact with you.
