Foootball Analogy

If you really think about it, you can kinda relate football to what John was trying to tell us in 1 John 5:18. It says "We know that God's children do not make a practice of sinning, for God's Son holds them securely, and the evil one cannot touch them." Sinning is like getting tackled. The offensive line and tight ends are the quarterback's protection from getting tackled. If he doesn't communicate with them or tries to do everything all on his own, he is going to fail an get tackled. That's why he needs to communicate with them and build relationships so that he will be safe from any tackles. If we are God's children, or the quarterback, we don't make a practice of sinning, or getting tackled, because God's Son, or the offensive line, holds us securely, or keeps us safe from being tackled, and the evil one cannot touch us, or in other words the other team's defense cannot break through and tackle us.
