Its so easy to look around and forget why you do things. Today i had just bought something on the street and some of the change blew out of my hands and landed close to a man who picked it up and handed it to me. I waved to say he could have it and smiled. In retrospect, it was a selfish act. Up till recently I thought i had the right intentions in my heart until i realized that every time i did something good, I would look up at the sky like "Hey God did you see that. I want you to play that on the big screen during my judgement." I was still doing it because i wanted something back. Even though i was not doing it for glorification on earth the selfish motive was still there. He was right when he said whats the point of doing something good if its all for show a the end of the day. We feel like we are smarter than God and quickly forget that He is the only one that searches the heart and true intentions of men. No fake smiles or fake actions will deceive him because God sees beyond every charade. Im constantly brought to my knees and im kept in a state of perpetual reflection at that concept. When I act i think of my heart and not my actions. I find this does 2 things for me. It leaves no room for regret and also makes me want to constantly pray for God to teach me to love those that do not love me. Not for reward but for the sheer joy of just loving. I have not mastered this yet but it starts for me with being able to put a smile on a random strangers face everyday. Its a work in progress and though i have not figured out how to love my enemies yet, the work in progress is in the heart and thats all He cares for. On face value its easy to glance over this message because it seems like simple words of advise but when you look at the substance you find that when you act for the sole sake of being rapture-able then what happens when there is no longer a rapture to look forward to? Do you then loose the will to love or fall out of compassion and drive for the very essence of God? Gods goal is for us to remember who we are as citizens of His Kingdom and bring others into the kingdom of love, not by force but through our constant actions of pure love everyday. Search yourself. We are just actors in a reality TV show. God watches and can see everything. The beginning and the end. He is never fooled.
