For Jesus knew from the beginning...

John 6:14 Then those men, when they had seen the sign that Jesus did, said, “This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.”
John 6:61 When Jesus knew in Himself that His disciples complained about this, He said to them, “Does this offend you? 62 What then if you should see the Son of Man ascend where He was before? 63 It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. 64 But there are some of you who do not believe.” For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would betray Him. 65 And He said, “Therefore I have said to you that no one can come to Me unless it has been granted to him by My Father.”

When Jesus performed the miracle with the loaves and fishes, everyone marveled and said, "Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world." As I read this, I thought about Judas Iscariot. He was there during that time too. What was he thinking? Did he believe at that time and then later give into the devil to betray Jesus? The answer is given by Jesus Himself a few verses, a few events later. He knew from the beginning who they were who did not believe, and who would betray Him.

Lord, I thank You that You know our hearts. I praise You for being so sovereign. I also knwo the power that You have to change hearts and replace hearts of stone for hearts of flesh (Ezekiel 36:26). Please take hold of the hearts that I am praying for right now. Help them (and me) to love You with the love of Job. Amen.
