Truly important? Or just a basic Bible lesson? hmm...
Well, I'll admit, I almost didn't write on this scripture because I thought, "well, this is basic Bible knowledge. By grace we are saved through Christ by faith in Him." Well, as true as that may be! Sometimes I forget how true and marvelous and glorious that gift really is! I can't get caught up in "sunday school basics", because in the Bible, there are no basics! Everything is important, and maybe I just need to focus more on each verse to realize that. That's why I like this plan. We focus on individual verses : )
So let's think here. Through God's FREE GIFT of atonement for our sins, we are saved as long as we acknowledge Him! So let's back that up further. We, dead in our sins, deserving of hell for all eternity, are saved because God loves us so much that He became a man! The most undeserving of all creatures because of our sin, and died for us so that we may spend eternity in joy and glory with Him. Man, how many people on this earth show anything close to that kind of love?!? We fight with everybody if they don't agree with us. We fight with parents if they don't let us go out (even though most of the time it's for our own good), we fight with our friends because they hurt us sometimes, we fight with people when they don't believe the same thing we do. Look at what Jesus did. He DIED for US, regardless of the betrayal and sin we are in, solely because HE LOVES US! Man, that is great. That is truly wonderful, and what on earth makes us deserve that? Nothing. He did it out of pure love. Can we not reciprocate that love back to Jesus for all He's done for us? That's a beautiful thing.
Jesus, thank you, please help me remember to appreciate you in your entirety and remember the great sacrifice out of love you made for me. Thank you Jesus : ), amen.
