V. 12, 16 Nothing But 'Seeds'

Note: Verses 12, 16, and in a roundabout way, 3 all use the same word in the LXX.

I don't believe "nothing but vegetables to eat" is a proper translation or even, interpretation of this idea.

They requested, and were granted, pulse, or seeds, to eat.

The word used is clearly spermaton. Strongs lists this as 4690 - with an association toward pulsebeing found with: legumes such as beans, peas, and lentils.

So, vegetables is not entirely wrong, but it's not accurate either. Apparently, it was not vegetables in a nominal sense, but seeds in a very specific sense.

The interesting thing from a thematic perspective is that 'Nabuchodonosor' brought in some of the captive children of Israel, and of the seedof the kingdom...

And then the seedsof the kingdom refuse the unclean foods and wine of the mighty king in exchange for seedsand water, apparently.
