Choked out along the way
In the parabel of the sower Jesus speaks of the seed in v14 that fell among the thorns and who it stands for those who hear , but as they go on their way they are choked by the worries and pleasures of this like and therefor do not mature. I thank the Holy spirit for choosing the time to make a scripture (no matter how many times you have read it) speak out to you in a way that either brings a moment of clarity or a deep feeling of unease.
Today this verse has brought a feeling of unease as it revealed an ugly truth. How easy is it to get caught up in the whirlwind of life as a believer, having a slight idea of what you should be doing and a path you should be heading down. Yet allow things that have no lasting value or temporary enjoyment replace a relationship with Jesus whom you know has carried you through thick and thin and sees into and through you slowly fade into nothing more than background noise that you tune into on a Sunday morning. What a shame if one is fortunate enough to open their hearts to realize that this spiritual highjacking has stolen if not years than months of time that one could have been hearing, retaining, and applying the word and hopefully producing fruit with.
Yet God is faithful and still gets the Glory either way, as I see it we can either be an example or become one. He still loves us and we should never count out our Lord and Savior as if he is unable change the game regarless if we are in the first or last quarter stages of our lives. Therefore, I am encouraged to receive v14 reflect upon it and make a decision to get back on the right path in hopes of one day reaching the final destination.
