Does God really need to ask questions?

God keeps asking Satan what he's been up to. And I'm thinkin that . . . our soveriegn God already knows exactly what he's been up to.
Maybe God just ask questions like that for the sake of conversation? . . . . for the sake of . . . . being relational?
