Memorize and repeat.

I used to laugh at the idea of "memory verses". I grew up in church and went to Christian school and shoved scripture memorization onto my "That was useless, let's stop" pile. Then I got older and learn about how young Jewish men had entire books of the Bible of the memorized.

That fascinated me.

However, my interest in God's Word and seeing the importance of writing the Word of God on my heart did not come until last year. Last year, I don't think I even read my Bible, but God has ushered my back to a place where I have been awakened and I'm not reaching for Him like a hungry child.

I decided to read Thessalonians because that was not a book I spent much time in. Herein, I've found verses to hold close to my heart. Not just because they're short, but because Paul quickly sums up essentials for our Christian walk. I'm working on memorizing these verses, because these are things I must carry with me from day to day. Also these are short commands, that are usually scattered throughout Paul's epistles, but he lays here in one place. I really love these verses.
