I love this Psalm. I've read it many times before, but never really meditated on it. Psalm 19:7 says, "The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple" (NIV). Wisdom is doing what God tells you to do, what you know is right in the eyes of God. How easy is that, and how often do we screw it up?! Daily? I do!
I think that word "trustworthy" is key. The NKJV says "sure." The Message says, "The signposts of God are clear, and point out the right road." Sure, clear, and trustworthy. . .that's our God. Makes me think of how much easier my life could've been if I had only followed God's trustworthy statutes. . .mistakes not made. . . hardships not faced in result of those mistakes. Evidence that God's instructions for our lives are the only right way. Can't look back, can't change anything. . . but I can learn, and be SURE of God's right road for my life.
Verse 14 says, "May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight O Lord, My Rock and My Redeemer." This is my prayer today. amen.
