americans love money

1 Timothy 6:6-10 ESV

Now there is great gain in godliness with contentment, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation, into a snare, into many senseless and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.

are we rally content to receive the love God lavishes us with everday? i doubt it. I Know that most of the time i just want comfort, control, and no conflict. I so often turn towards money or the act of making money as my savior. I believe our whole culture loves money so much that even us believers get wrappd up in worshipping this temporal false god. We make excuses about so often, but it is such a blind spot. Similar to many christians who owned slaves and were blinded to that sin, by the complacent normalcy of it, we are blind to our covetous heart for materialism. we act as if more money to buy more things that will produce more joy and a fat savings account to protect us from hard times is a real answer. It is all going to burn and all of it is under God's rule and authority. let's repent of placing hope, joy, and security in money, and give it back to the author of everything. our good God.
