I never realized until tonight that the reason God promised all of Caanan to Abram was because of the curse of Ham, when he looked upon his father Noah's nakedness. God promised that the decendants of Ham would be cursed for this, while Shem and Japheth would be blessed. Abraham is a decendant of Shem.
