The "Know How"

The Teacher, Solomon, says that wisdom is more costly than rubies or expensive jewels. I have come to agree with this from experience that the "know how" has a higher price tag than any earthly possession. I remember reading about a comic strip of Scrooge Duck in the Mickey Mouse/Donald Duck series. Scrooge Duck looses all the millions of dollars he has and is left with a holey-hat, and the streets for a home. AS he walks down the street he finds a coin laying there. He picks up and goes to town. As he approaches town, there are men selling fish. He buys a fish and then walks down the street. As he walks he runs into those buying goods. He sells the fish and makes a good amount of money. With the money he purchases another item and sells it for more. By the end of the comic strip, he has all his money back. Why? Because his financial literacy wasn't lost when he lost his money. He could lose everything and get it all back. Money comes and goes, but financial "know how" can serve you for a lifetime.

This isn't just applicable with money - its applicable with all of life. You can either fix a problem or you can fit so that the problem doesn't master you anymore.

I see getting "fit" as the goal in our relationships, our emotional health, our physical disciplines, finances, our time with Jesus, and all other spiritual disciplines.

Getting FIT takes a different mentality than getting a FIX.
