Humble Service
Jesus describes what it means to live humbly before others in the beginning of this chapter. 11For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted." He reminds us that He does all the promoting and the we must always take the humble seat first. When it's your time, you will be honored in front of many!
Jesus also describes the heart behind true service. As followers of Christ and especially leaders of a church, we must remember that some of our acts of service must be without any returns. Example: Going to feed the homeless in another part of town, digging water wells in other countries, helping other churches outside of our immediate area. Those types of non-returnable services are those that God honors. 14and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous."
