In or Out

Whenever I'm in the middle of a difficult or painful situation/season/stage of life, I ask God to rescue me from the storm but the story of Job is a reminder that's not how God usually works. While I wish He would take me out of the difficulty, more often than not God chooses to simply speak to me in the middle of it.

Why? Because He understands my character is much more valuable than my comfort and some things can only be learned in the storm. I think if I would remember that and cooperate with Him instead of always trying to escape problems, I'd learn faster and know God more.

The old saying, "You'll never know God is all you need until He's all you've got" is certainly true. So maybe it's worth it to stay in the storm. That's where God most often speaks. Maybe I can remember that next time it's pouring.
