Jehovah told him to, if I can narrate it accurately, to leave his household and Go to the Country I have prepared for you. The main thing I learned here was, he was supposed to go to Canaan with himself and just his wife. But the journey became problematic when this simple disobedience came about. He brought Lot and later on would have difficulties with him.

So when obeying God, the whole nine yards have to be obeyed.
