The Nehemiah Project: Day Eleven

-I'm not a huge fan of committees sometimes because they tend to lead to lots of meetings, lots of discussion, and little action. However, in this passage, I am challenged by the great care that was taken to select the team that would lead Jerusalem.
-Notice that one out of ten was sent to live in Jerusalem while the other nine stayed in the outer towns and villages. I wonder how they reacted? Did they lead where they were? Did they spend time in prayer for those who had been chosen to lead?
-How much time do we spend in prayer selecting those that we place in leadership positions? It is too easy to fall in the trap of only chosing someone because you think they will say yes. For me, this passage is a reminder to recognize what a weighty challenge it is to select those who will lead.
