Making of Disciples and building up of the body

It was He who gave some to be apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors (shepherds) and teachers. So that the body (SOMA) could be strong enough to be the presence of Jesus in this world. The understanding here is that the body is one - with one head. It is the reality. And our role, however we are wired, which ever gift we are provided, is to build up one another to become "interdependently dependently dependent upon Jesus". This is the secret of discipleship - sojourners we travel together, as did the disciples and followers in Jesus time, learning together from the Master and sharing selflessly with those they meet and know.

Imagine how different the institutional church would be and how differently God and the Church might be perceived if this were so. I like to imagine how the disciples and crowds would spend hours together in meals and fellowship simply talking about the day, what they had seen, how it felt to have the power of God moving through them, to walk with Jesus and to see the his words and the grace of God transform lives. This is the meal for which the world seems to hunger.

What is you experience as a sojourner?
What have you learned from the simple and young in faith?
How might being a disciple and simply leading other to Jesus make disciples and a more vital Church body?
