submitting = protection

To submit to God's Son results in His protection, a peace in assured safety. To not submit results in righteous anger. I think this is why husbands get angry when their wives don't show them respect- it's natural. God, in making us in His image and making marriage as a symbol of his relationship with us, made respect a spiritual necessity for honoring Him.
