passive prayers
7 And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?
39 Those who led the way rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” Luke 18:7,39 TNIV
What a reminder of being persistent when we pray. Jesus had just said earlier in this chapter that we should not give up on our petition and prayers before God. The disciples and those around Him heard this teaching not too long before this event but must have forgotten because they told the blind beggar to be quiet but he was persistent in his petition. Jesus heard him as he cries out for healing and did a miracle in his life that day.
In a lot of ways I have always been a passive person, just letting this go and not making a big deal about circumstances or things that happen. I think that is changing as I get a little older and hopefully a little wiser. I am certainly learning today in reading this scripture that cannot be passive when it comes to prayer. I must be consistent and continue to seek God out for an answer to my prayer until He responds.
Thank you Lord for reminding me today to be consistent and not passive in my prayer life.
