cry to God
Just within 5 chapters you can see an array of cries from David's heart to God. He is unsure of the status of his own life, he feels alone, he is amazed that God wants him, he is certain of vengence toward his enemies, he is uncertain of his enemies. He speaks of the wonders of the Lord, yet he is broken and feeble before His presence. How could a man who is so unsure of his status be called a man after God's own heart? It's humbling yet reassuring to know that God can and does call such an unstable man as David a man after His own heart. There are moments when I am so sure about life, then there are moments when I feel so alone. There are times when I know God's vengence is for those who have done wrong toward me, then there are times when I wonder why does he let them prosper as I still struggle to stand on my own two feet. I am unsure of my future, yet even more unsure why God chose me. But as I read the Psalms of a man known to the entire world as one of God's very own, I am reassured that I too, like David, can be and am called someone after God's own heart.
Thank you Jesus, because in all honesty from the depths of my heart, in all my failures and insecurities, in all instability, and in all questioned prayers, I do not know why you have called me but I am so glad you did.
