A place to visit often

This passage apart from the 3 stories that Jesus tells, has taught me more than any other in the Bible.

It is not really the content of the chapter as much as what I've learned after returning so many times to this passage. Time and time again I come back and see something else, something differently, something new! It teaches me that one of the verses from last week's reading is true, All scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, reproof, correction and training in righteousness.

The irrationality of each of the symbols of God, the shepherd, the woman and the father. The all out search of the first two and the constant survey of the horizon of the father. I know that I am not "worth" it but for some reason God decided to pull out the stops and make my return possible.

The collision of justice and love come to mind when we get to the Father, punish the son for his transgression, justice. Forgive him and let he come back and live as a servant, mercy. Reinstate his as a legitimate son, Love, the kind of love that doesn't exist in this world without the invasion of a Father passionate about finding his children and bringing them home.

Father, thank you for finding me. I would like to think that I went searching for you but some 30 years later I clearly see you were after me. Thank you for pulling out all the stops to make our reunion possible.
