Knowing where you come from.
To be honest, this was always the part of the Bible that would put me to sleep. So and so was the father of so and so, the father of so and so and so on. Much similar to "Lord of the Rings", in fact its the one part of VeggieTales "Lord of the Beans" that makes me laugh the most. (Yes, you can tell I'm a mom because I'm making reference to a kids movie.) However it points out something important, we need to know where we come from. The beginning of Matthew shows that they can point that Jesus' lineage goes all the way back to Abraham. WOW. Until now, I didn't know that. I kept telling myself "Ok, this year I'm going to read the Bible" and then I wouldn't. Now I have two kids, and I want to be able to show them that it's important to lead by example, and reading the Bible and centering my life around it is important. I can only tell them back as far back as my great grandparents, I can't go back 54 generations (I think I did my math right).
