Walking with God.
Today was a day full of driving for my family. We went to see my brother in law take his citizenship oath in Grand Rapids, Michigan. To fill the time, my husband and I thought we'd do Bible study in the car. We started with discussing yesterdays readings of Genesis and how Adam and Eve got to walk with God. Then we read today's readings. Kevin (my husband) stopped us after Genesis 5:24 saying "Did you catch that? Enoch actually walked with God." This (among other stuff) lead us to say "How cool would it be if we could walk out into our backyard and really walk with God?" Not like we do today where we walk with him and can feel and see him in the trees and the flowers, the faces of our children, but instead to walk out there and to actually SEE him. God gave us free will, He knew that Eve would eat of the tree, He knew of every action that was and is to happen and he STILL longs to walk WITH us! I love how Pastor Beeson describes it when he slaps his hands together as if squishing a bug and says "If I was God, and I gave them a chance, it'd be over, I'd start again." God doesn't. He gave us free will so we would choose to walk with him, so we would want to have that relationship with him. I want to walk with God. I would love to know He was waiting in my backyard for me to come out there and have a chat with Him, but I know he's here in this room with me, just waiting for me to open the dialogue with Him. We do walk with Him everyday, even in our dark moments when temptation and sin take over, He is with us. Are you walking with Him?
