BE ONE!
John 17:20 “I pray for these followers, but I am also praying for all those who will believe in me because of their teaching.21 Father, I pray that they can be one. As you are in me and I am in you, I pray that they can also be one in us. Then the world will believe that you sent me.22 I have given these people the glory that you gave me so that they can be one, just as you and I are one.23 I will be in them and you will be in me so that they will be completely one. Then the world will know that you sent me and that you loved them just as much as you loved me.
Being one requires humility for the sake of unity. Jesus says that by being one the world will believe in Him and know that God has the same love for them as He does for Jesus. Why? How? Humility and unity is not a natural response for people. Ever saw children playing together? No one had to teach them how NOT to share. That is their natural response. The supernatural response is a God centered (love God with all your heart) and an others centered (love your neighbor as yourself) attitude. The non believer has a nothing bigger than themselves to motivate them to humble themselves for the sake of unity. However, our God humbled Himself all the way to the cross and now He asks us to do the same.
Lord, I want to bring others to Jesus. As You humbled Yourself, help me to humble myself, so that others will see that You and I are one.
