the Best Fit

"God is building a home. He's using us all—irrespective of how we got here—in what he is building. He used the apostles and prophets for the foundation. Now he's using you, fitting you in brick by brick, stone by stone, with Christ Jesus as the cornerstone that holds all the parts together. We see it taking shape day after day—a holy temple built by God, all of us built into it, a temple in which God is quite at home." Eph 2, the Message

It's a pleasure to watch and be part of the growth of God's church. Our reach is expanding to South Africa as well as to the homeless right here in KC. Sometimes I feel a pang of guilt that I''m not out there with Brian, serving alongside him to feed the homeless. I wonder if I should make plans to travel to Africa with my daughter. Then I wonder, whose agenda would that serve? Brian's? Xandra's? Would I be doing it in hopes of receiving affirmation from them? What about my agenda? And how does all of this line up with God's agenda?

A brick doesn't function very well as a doorknob. A shingle won't last very long as a floor tile. God help me to discern the best fit for me as you build and grow this temple.
