Only God's Spirit can change you into a child of God
5 Jesus answered:
I tell you for certain that before you can get into God’s kingdom, you must be born not only by water, but by the Spirit.
6 Humans give life to their children. Yet only God’s Spirit can change you into a child of God.
~~~~ The fact that Jesus says this FOR CERTAIN, so that we will understand that God is the one that changes us into His child. We do not change by ourselves.
He grants us a willing spirit to change us to become more like our Father. We understand this part, yet, I see many people fail to really grasp this lesson.
Many times, we as christians, have received His spirit, having been born again STILL EXPECT others to change quicker or act a certain way because they just go to church. It will not happen, for long anyways. This change isn't something we can acheive on our own. We are a sinful people and before receiveing His spirit, we are slaves to the sinful desires. So why then, do we expect change from our loved ones at a same rate as we ourselves change? I am guilty of this also. Yet, I am guilty of judging, and it is wrong. It is God that changes the believer. It is a change that takes place between the believer and God. Yes, we want to see better behavior in new followers of Christ, and yes we want them to experience this change. They will, the power of God is amazing. You have experienced it, I have experienced it and know for CERTAIN that it is HIM and HIS SPIRIT that changes us. Not by our own works but by the Grace of God. ONLY God's spirit can change you into a child of God. Let HIM do the work in others, and let us pray that they receive the willing spirit that they will want to allow God to change them without fighting it.
7 Don’t be surprised when I say that you must be born from above.
8 Only God’s Spirit gives new life. The Spirit is like the wind that blows wherever it wants to. You can hear the wind, but you don’t know where it comes from or where it is going.
~~~~ Don't be surprised that the spirit of God changes us. We become new creations, having a new hope, and a new home. His Spirit goes where it wants to, it isn't up to us where it goes, it isn't up to us how fast it goes either. It isn't for us to know where it is going, but one thing is for certain... That it is out, it is heard, it is answered to, and it is received. It covers His creation, and it covers you and me! In that I place my hope, and it is by that I am made new! Praise God that He is at work in and on this earth!
Thank you Father for your Spirit that changes us, that makes us new! Thank you for being at work in my life, and I cling to you and not to myself for this change. You Father know the plans that you have for me, and You know what changes I need to have me succeed in doing You will. Forgive me for ever judging others, and not trusting your spirit to change those I love. I do believe your word, and it says only you can change us! I allow you to change me, thank you for your willing spirit that sustains me through this continual change to become more like YOU, my Father! Amen..
