Capital Punishment: an infinite regress
This is why we need a savior. God is just. Genesis 9:5-6 isn't a scripture about killing a man for killing a man. The killing would continue forever. This is a scripture telling man to NEVER KILL. We miss the point when we use it as an excuse for capital punishment. Technically, this passage interpreted as that would call for an execution of the executioner and an execution of the second, and third, and so on forever creating an infinite regress. This passage is about the sanctity of human life... about how we are made in God's image and murder is NEVER condoned.
Just look at the verse following, we are not told to kill. We are told to multiply.
