The extremes of riches and poverty

VS 9-11 While neither one is necessarily a sin the extremes of riches and poverty both pose a similer temptation: to have our eyes averted from Jesus to the cares of this life.

Notice Proverbs 30:7-9

7 Two things I ask of you;
deny them not to me before I die:
8 Remove far from me falsehood and lying;
give me neither poverty nor riches;
feed me with the food that is needful for me,
9 lest I be full and deny you
and say, “Who is the Lord?”
or lest I be poor and steal
and profane the name of my God.

Notice also Jesus explanation of the parable of the sower:

And as for what fell among the thorns, they are those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by the cares and riches and pleasures of life, and their fruit does not mature. Luke 8:14
