We Are The Light.
My friends, "darkness" is sin -- when Jesus Christ was dieing on the Cross of Calvary, there was darkness over all the earth on the sixth hour (Luke 23:44). When He died on the cross, His arms were spread open -- showing that all can come to Him. Saddening as it was, it had a sense of commemoration. After Jesus did die for three days, I'm sure afterwards there was a time of darkness -- for He claimed (and was/is) the Messiah -- He performed miracles -- healed the sick, cleansed the lepers -- caused the blind to see -- and many more, and people believed Him (and many hated Him), so logically, people would have believed all hope was lost (until the Resurrection). Nonetheless, in this passage it says, "But all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings," and so do we. Israel, God's chosen people, during this plague of darkness, God was always with them bringing them a pathway of light. Understand something, we may go through some very tough and darkening trials, but God is always with us. He is Light to our life, and He's planted inside of us for an everlasting eternity. Even through death, God still gives us Light -- now (us) and in the afterlife. Continue reading on in verse 26 and it will say, "Our cattle also shall go with us; there shall not an hoof be left behind." Jesus' arms were spread open for a reason, and there are many people that are lost walking in darkness, let us be God's light to them -- lead them to Jesus, the Door for salvation.
