Baptism and the Slave Mindset

It never really sunk in how clearly God links baptism to our rebirth and new identity in Christ. Here, Paul touts baptism as the cornerstone of our transformation from death to life and our new IDENTITY. This identity leads to the slave mindset.

Lately I've been very circumstantial with my obedience; finding excuses to slack in diligence and love. I was convicted today that the slave mindset of obedience does not except excuses, because our identity is no longer about us. A slave does what the master wants, regardless of how they're feeling, or what mood they are in. There are no sick days or vacations. My new years resolve is to embrace my identity in Christ, both as freshly baptized with Him in His death, and as slave to righteousness, without excuses.

If I am to be a man of the character of Christ, I must put to death that arguing, excusing, lazy part of my brain that wants to contest the direction of God, and obey without condition, contemplation or regard.
