Angels All Over

Sue and I were talking last night (I've been reading through the chronological bible plan) about how often angels appeared in the beginning of the Old Testament. It almost seems common to engage with angels during the period of Abraham. Has anyone studied this? You see, Abraham actually sending an angel to help his servant find a wife for Isaac. It's like, "Here, I'll just send one of these angels with you to help you do the job." Further, when reading through the story about Sodom and Gomorrah, angels are clearly prevalent there as well. These "messengers of the Lord" were showing up at people's doorsteps. Any response on this? What has happened over the last several thousand years that we almost doubt the people have actually seen angels?

Makes me wonder if I've come in contact on occasion without even realizing.
