Pray for a brotha

I'm sure there are better passages I could apply this to, but it has been in my heart for a long time now. Jesus is indeed teaching us to be persistent in our prayers, with special reference to our prayers of petition and request. I have the tendency to think of "requests" to God as personal things that I want for myself. But what about requests for our brothers and sisters? Should we not be all the more persistent in praying for them? In my walk with Christ he has blessed me with a uniquely intentional community of believers. Over time I've come to the realization that my relationships with them are stronger, deeper, more alive, and healthier than ever... when I am consciously and consistently praying for them or with them. It is amazing how investing spiritual time in them and their own journeys can make such a huge difference. There is something raw and beautiful about being able to come to a brother and shamelessly pray over him and his life, and be prayed over by a brother as well. The love of Christ doesn't get any more real than that. It's exactly what he's talking about here, and I thank him for making me realize that.
