13 When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus. 14 But since they could see the man who had been healed standing there with them, there was nothing they could say.
The religious leaders of the day where trying to figure out why Peter and John had so much courage. Their courage and confidence came from their education and understanding of scripture. But as they examined the life of these two men they realized that it wasn’t what they knew but who they knew and who they were with that must have been the difference; Jesus. They even had evidence with them as the man that was healed was following these two men.
This scripture reminds me today that I can have courage as I wake up each day and face it. I can have courage not because I am someone with a well known name or a top notch education but because I know Jesus. This is another reminder for me to spend time at the feet of Jesus daily in His Word and through prayer. This will give me the courage I need not only to face my day but to be an effective witness.
