JOHN 3:14-15
Jesus makes a comparison to an old testament event and how it will relate to his own execution.
It's interesting as we read the story Jesus referenced (NUMBERS 21:1-9) to see that God did not remove the snakes when the people confessed and sought forgiveness, rather He provided a way for them to live even when the snakes bit them. Reminds me of Paul begging for his thorn to be removed (2 CORINTHIANS 12:7-9) and God saying no, my grace is sufficient for you. Considering how many "snake bites" we get in a week with our specific temptations, we need to make sure we look up at the cross daily so we can live.
