Why faith is counted as righteousness
It has always been a mystery to this one why faith was counted to Abraham as righteousness. It was a belief that God would do what He said He would do; certainly it does not seem like something worthy to be counted as righteousness. Yet this one thinks that perhaps the reason it is counted as such is because of the first sin was unbelief; if Eve and Adam had truly believed God when He said, "You shall surely die" they would not have eaten the fruit. So if unbelief was the root of the first sin, then faith may be the root of righteousness.
