their will or God's will?


Verse 25 says that Pilate handed Jesus over to the will of the people, or to do as they wished. It amazes me that they perceived themselves to have so much power. That they actually believed they were doing right by killing an innocent man. That they thought they were in control. Obviously blind. Blind not only to who Jesus was, but blind to the fact that how Jesus was treated, how he was insulted, beaten, mocked, a killed - was not of their will, but of God's will. It was God's will and Jesus' divine role for all this to happen as it did. The crowd, the people, the leaders, the government, they were all just playing the part God had written for them.
