Preparation
I'm with Louis. I read this first thing this morning and don't think I had picked up on the "preparation" element. I think Jesus was preparing the disciples and the disciples were preparing (by replacing Judas) so that they could be Jesus' "witnesses" in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and all the world. It makes me think of the sermon point yesterday--that we are still being trained and shaped for that same mission. Waiting, spiritual preparation, relying on God's Spirit... these are important and fruitful aspects of our life with God.
