God's Timing and my timing

Acts 12:11 Then Peter realized what had happened. He thought, “Now I know that the Lord really sent his angel to me. He rescued me from Herod and from all the things the people thought would happen.”

Before Jesus ascended, Jesus told Peter that he would die for the glory of God. John 21: 18 I tell you the truth, when you were younger, you tied your own belt and went where you wanted. But when you are old, you will put out your hands and someone else will tie you and take you where you don’t want to go.”19 (Jesus said this to show how Peter would die to give glory to God.) Then Jesus said to Peter, “Follow me!”

I wonder if while Peter was in prison with 16 guards overseeing him that he thought back to those words of Jesus concerning his death. I wonder if Peter thought his time was up or if he knew he would be freed because Jesus said his death would happen when he was old. I know for me I would have clicked into worst case scenario mode, "I’m old enough, I’m in prison, there are 16 guards around me, I’m toast!”But God had different plans for Peter.

I should not let the circumstances around me bring me into worst case scenario mode or make assumptions that my time is God's time. God is able to do the impossible in my life like He did here for Peter.

Lord Jesus, help to remember that Your timing is not my own!
