Acts 2
The continuing theme I see in Acts is that the good news of Jesus is for all people. The miracle of Pentecost is not so much a miracle of speaking but of hearing. The text says 'devout Jews from every nation under heaven' ... 'heard them speaking in the native language of each.' The coming of the Holy Spirit is for the purpose of taking the message to the world. What was promised in Acts 1:8 is now being fulfilled.
I was also stuck by the boldness of Peter. This is the guy that a short time ago denied Jesus and ran like a scared cat. Something has happened to him ... he stands boldly and proclaims without fear the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. Again his message is that Jesus came for all people. "For the promise is for you, for your children, and all who are far away" (v.39).
Which raises this question for me: How am I ... how are we at B'way ... taking the good news of Jesus to those who are far away from God?
