They were friends once

I never noticed this before. I am not sure why, but I never did. According to Genesis 26:26-31, Isaac, the father of Jacob, had friendly relations with the Philistines. I mean, Abimilech who was king of the Philistines, allowed Isaac to live among them for years, until he became so wealthy that the philistines became jealous of him. And even after Abimilech sent Isaac away, Abimilech sought Isaac out to make a treaty with him. They parted ways as friends. And yet, as the years went on, the Philistines became the Israelites biggest and most hated enemy. And I think the reason they stopped being friends was because the Israelites stopped dealing with them as their grandfather Isaac had done. He was mistreated by them and never once sought revenge. Instead he did good to them. He did all he could to keep peace between them. Gives us a lot to think about when it comes to dealing with people who mistreat us.
